New Music Report 11.16 - Franz, Travis, Margot...
As I started typing the title line, I realized it looked like a bunch of first names and, well, looked interesting enough to leave. I just finished dumping a brand new single from Franz Ferdinand into the library that you should start hearing Tuesday. It's called Ulysses and its one of those tunes that you start grooving to only to realize its over - it runs a stout 3 minutes. Full disc out in January from the Scottish gentry.
The new Travis disc is here (had to buy it!!) and it is quite good - more of a stripped rock sound this time. Also am grooving to a new band called Margot and the Nuclear So And So's. Funny story - I had a friend come over ( he loves to rifle thru the Indie bunker for new sounds ) and saw this disc un-opened in one of the teetering stacks and put it in front of me - said he had heard them playing on a jukebox in a bar a week ago and that it was a little crazy. It has since entered the Indie library along with regular rotation on the home stereo. There's definitely some Radiohead influence but lots of other spices too.
Room for one more - me thinks the Asteroids Galaxy Tour is pretty swift - listen for it and BE INDIE!
